We Love Media

We recently visited the Media Center and heard Ms. KK read a book without pictures! Then we spent time browsing the books. Many of us checked out 4! We can't wait to visit again, soon!

Readers See A Rainbow Before Their Eyes!

To kick off the year of reading, Mrs. Phillips encouraged all the children to read a million words. She revved up their excitement by turning herself into a rainbow with Oz characters, reading teachers, and even Toto!
Mrs. Phillips is truly a leader that is a reader!
There's no place like Chets Creek!

Sweet Pete's Fun!

Yesterday we learned so much about the candy making process that tied right into our science learning! We also had an opportunity to be creative not only with our lollipop design, but also upstairs while illustrating.
Thanks to our chaperones and the gift of taffy for the ride home.
What a sweet day it was! Ask your child about Brooke and Peter.

Fall Carnival

We enjoy the carnival every year. It allows us a chance to see our students with their families. It also allows us to see students from years past! What a joy!
The carnival is a Chets tradition and it wouldn't be possible without our leader, Susan Phillips, our wonderful PTA, our families and the teachers. Thank you for the smiles!
So many more were there, I just didn't get pictures. If you send them to me, I will happily add them to the blog!

O.J.

We decided to create a litter of O.J.s for our Literary Pumpkins! Each friend was given supplies and used their creativity! We are so pleased with the final products. They will be coming home soon!

Rainy Day Fun

Last week, we were not able to go to recess due to the rain. So, we pulled out some manipulatives and let their imaginations take over!

Science On a Dime

No, it was science on a penny! We identified the three types of variables and then conducted our experiment. The students enjoyed counting how many drops of water the penny could hold before spilling over. Ask your child how many drops it took before the water tumbled over!

Meet A New Author!

Whose favorite dido is onions? He has no pets and he lives in Utah. If you guessed Tyler Whitesides you are correct! This author will have 5 books in his Janitors series. The main character Spencer has much to worry about in his school and the help of some super powered cleaning materials. Our friend got to use a squeegee to open a portal. Look below to see what A found!

Dot Day

We had such a meaningful Dot Day! Last year we focused on how we could leave our "mark." This year we discussed bravery and how the main character, Vashti showed how brave she was when she tried doing something she didn't think she was good at. Ask your child about their day!
