When scientists conduct an experiment!

Scientists conduct experiments and write them using a lab report format.
Which will go farther, a ping-pong ball or a cotton ball using the catapult you design?
The next thing scientists do after identifying their question is to come up with a hypothesis and ask, " How can I test this?"
We moved into the dining room to conduct our trials.

We then taught the children that scientists write data in an organized manner. Scientists use tables and graphs to organize data and to look for patterns.
To be continued....

WOW Day

We are so fortunate as teachers to experience excellent professional development from our colleagues.
Today while the children were rotating through our themed resources, the second grade teachers were learning from Ms. Symons and Mrs. Shaffer.
We were able to experience a third grade science lab on gravity and motion. How insightful to see where our learning in second grade science feeds into third grade!
We are able to interact with students and other teachers to gain professional knowledge while our students spend their day experiencing the arts and physical play with specific lessons designed just for them.
Gravity just blows us away!
