When Mrs. Walag released her air, the sound the balloon made sounded just like a "toot." Mrs. Walag began laughing hystetically along with the class. I made this face!
Here are some friends filling their ballons with air.
Next, friends hypothesized about whether a balloon could be blown up inside of an empty water bottle.
We learned that the balloon could not be blown up because there was air in the bottle surrounding the balloon and pushing on it.
Mrs. Walag then showed them a thing or two.
Her balloon filled up with air. The friends determined that there must have been a way for the air to escape from around the balloon. E discovered a hole in the bottom of her balloon. The class learned that the empty bottle was filled with air. The balloon could not inflate much because of the air pushing on the balloon. Helium, another gas, is lighter than air! Just check out the two filled balloons!
